TRAVELERS PREFER GREEN HOTELS

Travelers overwhelmingly prefer green hotels, according to Travelocity. The travel company allows consumers to rate hotels on a one-to-five scale of smiley faces. Customers gave 83% of non-green hotels at least three smiley faces, but 94% gave green hotels three or more smiley faces. "This data confirms something we´ve long suspected," said Alison Presley, a manager at Travelocity. "Our eco-friendly hotels care deeply about the entire experience they provide."

The old television series "Naked City" used to end with the famous line, "There are 8 million stories in the Naked City. This has been one of them."

MT PLEASANT GOODWILL NOW ACCEPTS COMPUTERS FOR RECYCLING

A free consumer computer equipment recycling collection run by Dell and Goodwill will now accept Microsoft electronics at Goodwill locations. In addition to collecting PCs and computer accessories, the 1,900-plus Goodwill locations participating in Reconnect recycling program will now collect Microsoft entertainment products including Xbox, Zune and accompanying accessories for free recycling.

Since 2004, Goodwill employees have collected 96 million pounds of e-waste through the program, which are refurbished, repaired and resold or recycled by Dell´s partners. Dell said it holds its partners to a strict policy of not exporting non-functioning electronics to developing countries. Goodwill said the program supports its job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face other challenges to finding employment.
