As a resident of Union Township, I feel the township board should look favorably at the possibility of cooperating with the City of Mt Pleasant for the sake of improved public safety.
Another township resident told me the tragic story about his neighbor needing police help late at night. My friends wife called 911 when their neighbor was being beaten a "boy friend". The police never came. Not after one hour. Not after two hours. Not after four hours. The neighbor finally was able to escape when her assailant passed out.
We need more police protection in Union Township. I believe we must pay for it and contribute to a better public safety department for all of the greater Mt Pleasant area.
